Flash Flood Warning

The National Weather Service in Little Rock has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
the Ouachita River below Remmel dam in...
eastern Hot Spring County in southwestern Arkansas...

* until 330 am CDT Saturday

* at 929 PM CDT... dam operators reported elevated releases at Remmel
dam on the Ouachita River.

This is a routine high water event which will result in lowland
flooding along the Ouachita River in Hot Spring County. The current
flow rate from Remmel dam at 939 PM is 29400 cubic feet per second.
Initial impacts from Remmel dam releases will reach the bridge on
Interstate 30 near Malvern within 1 to 2 hours... with maximum impacts
occurring within the next 2 to 3 hours. Initial impacts will reach
Donaldson within the next 3 to 6 hours... with the maximum impacts
occurring within the next 6 to 8 hours. Impacts will reach Friendship
in about 10 to 12 hours. Livestock and property should be moved out
of the floodplain. Flooded roadways should be avoided.

* Locations in the warning include but are not limited to areas along
the Ouachita River near Oak Grove... midway... Friendship... and Jones
Mill.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

This is a controlled release. You should be on alert for increasing
releases from Remmel dam. This is an evolving situation and updates
to this statement will be made as more information becomes available.
Do not attempt to drive through flooded roadways. Turn around dont
drown.

The National Weather Service in Little Rock has issued a

* Flood Warning for
the Ouachita River at Arkadelphia.
* From Saturday morning to Monday evening... or until the warning is
cancelled.
* At 7:00 PM Friday the stage was 9.8 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by Saturday late morning and
continue to rise to near 18.5 feet by early Sunday morning.
* Impacts at 17.0 feet... farmland along the river begins to flood.
Water over State Highway 7 and 51 at Railroad underpass.

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* portions of central Arkansas... southeast Arkansas... southwest
Arkansas and western Arkansas... including the following
areas... in central Arkansas... Garland and Grant. In southeast
Arkansas... Bradley... Cleveland and Jefferson. In southwest
Arkansas... Calhoun... Clark... Dallas... Hot Spring... Ouachita
and Pike. In western Arkansas... Montgomery... Polk and Scott.

* Through Saturday evening

* two to three inches of rain will be possible across much of the
watch area through Saturday... with locally more than three
inches. The watch includes areas south of Waldron... Little
Rock... and Stuttgart.

* Many of the areas in the watch area have already received 2 to 3
inches of rain. With the soil already saturdated it will not
take much rainfall to get runoff and flash flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. You should monitor later forecasts and be
prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.
