Flood Warning

The Flood Warning continues for
the White River at Clarendon.
* From late Saturday night until further notice... or until the
warning is cancelled.
* At 8:00 PM Thursday the stage was 21.9 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 26.0 feet.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by early Sunday morning and
continue to rise to near 26.5 feet by midday Tuesday...
February 27th. Additional rainfall is expected this weekend,
so continue to monitor latest forecasts for any updates.
* Impacts at 26.0 feet... river flows in many side channels and creates
islands between the river and sloughs and creeks. Flooding of
cropland and Timber is occurring. Portions of the National wildlife
Refuge downstream of Clarendon flooding.

... Flood Watch remains in effect through Saturday evening...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of central Arkansas, eastern Arkansas, north central
Arkansas, southeast Arkansas, southwest Arkansas, and western
Arkansas, including the following areas, in central Arkansas,
Faulkner, Garland, Grant, Lonoke, Perry, prairie, Pulaski,
Saline, and white. In eastern Arkansas, Jackson, Monroe, and
Woodruff. In north central Arkansas, Cleburne and
Independence. In southeast Arkansas, Arkansas, Bradley,
Cleveland, Desha, Drew, Jefferson, and Lincoln. In southwest
Arkansas, Calhoun, Clark, Dallas, Hot Spring, Ouachita, and
Pike. In western Arkansas, Montgomery and Polk.

* Through Saturday evening

* heavy rain fell across much of southern... central and eastern
Arkansas the last couple days... with 3 to locally more than 5
inches observed. Several more rounds of showers and
thunderstorms are in the forecast through Saturday. An
additional 2 to 4 inches of rainfall are forecast... with locally
higher amounts possible.

* Given the recent heavy rainfall... the ground has become
saturated. As a result... the runoff potential has
increased... resulting in an increased threat for flash and river
flooding through Saturday. There have already been numerous
high water reports... including flooding of roads and Road
closures. If expected rainfall amounts are realized... this could
become a dangerous situation... with water possibly getting into
homes and businesses in places.

.Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for for high water
problems based on the current forecast of heavy rain.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
