Flash Flood Watch, Areal Flood Advisory

Statement as of 8:54 PM MDT on August 19, 2014

Expires 1:30 AM EDT on August 20, 2014

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 11 PM MST this
evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* a portion of Southeast Arizona... including the following
areas... Chiricahua Mountains... Dragoon and mule and huachuca
and Santa Rita Mountains... eastern Cochise County below 5000
feet and upper San Pedro River Valley.

* Until 11 PM MST this evening

* scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will be possible
over these areas through late this evening. Additional rainfall
falling on areas which are already saturated will be capable of
producing flash flooding this evening.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions are favorable for
widespread flash flooding to develop. Monitor forecasts closely
and be ready to take quick action if flash flood warnings are
issued.

Be especially cautious this evening when it is harder to
recognize the dangers of flash floods in the dark. If flash
flooding is observed... act quickly. Turn around and take another
Route.

Listen to NOAA Weather Radio... commercial radio or television
stations... or your cable television provider for updates on this
flash flood threat.

829 PM MST Tue Aug 19 2014

The National Weather Service in Tucson has issued a

* small stream Flood Advisory for...
east central Pima County in Southeast Arizona...

* until 1030 PM MST

* at 827 PM MST National Weather Service Doppler radar continued to
indicate one to two inches of rain in the past two hours along
Sahuarita Road between Sahuarita and Corona de Tucson. A few
localized spots have seen in excess of two inches based on radar
data. The Pima County sheriff office reported flooding on Sahuarita
Road from these storms at about 720 PM. The heavy rain is gradually
subsiding across the area with residual small stream flooding
expected to persist in area washes especially along Sahuarita Road
this evening. Thus... a small stream Flood Advisory is now in effect
and will replace the Flash Flood Warning previously in effect for
this area.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause elevated levels in
washes and streams... and ponding of water in urban areas...
highways... streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage
areas and low lying spots.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.
