The National Weather Service in Chicago has extended the

* Flood Warning for...
DuPage County in northeast Illinois...
southern Cook County in northeast Illinois...

* until 630 PM CDT

* at 224 PM CDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall moving across the
warned area. These thunderstorms are producing a quick one to two
inches of rain in some areas. This is in addition to some areas
that received just over five inches of rain that resulted in
flooding yesterday morning. Any additional rainfall today will
quickly become runoff resulting in additional flooding and renewed
rises in areas where flooding is already occurring.

* Runoff from this excessive rainfall will cause flooding to occur.
Some locations that will experience flooding include... Addison...
Alsip... Berwyn... Blue Island... Brookfield... Burnham... Burr Ridge...
Calumet City... Carol Stream... Chatham... Cicero... Dolton... Downers
Grove... Elmhurst and Forest Park.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

* at 149 PM CDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
thunderstorms with heavy rainfall across the advisory area. Doppler
radar estimated one inch of rain per hour with these storms... with
some locations receiving that amount of rain in just 20 to 30
minutes. The storms are moving quick enough that they should
prevent flash flooding... however localized flooding is likely with
these storms.

* Runoff from this excessive rainfall will cause minor flooding to
occur... especially along small streams and near low water
crossings... as well as in poor drainage places. Some locations
that will experience minor flooding include... Antioch... Chicago...
Evanston... Schaumburg... and Waukegan.
