Flood Warning

The Flood Warning continues for
the Wabash River at Mount Carmel.
* From Friday morning until further notice.
* At 5:45 PM Thursday the stage was 16.4 feet.
* Flood stage is 19.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by tomorrow morning and continue
to rise to near 29.7 feet by Saturday evening.
* At 30.0 feet... extensive flooding in progress on the northern
outskirts of Mount Carmel and in western Gibson County Indiana with
some evacuations needed. Flooding may cause some evacuations and
relocation of motorized land vehicles. Numerous local river roads
are flooded. Beall Woods State Park has 160-200 acres flooded.
High water backs up into Bon pas creek. Browns, Illinois may be
surrounded by water if heavy local rain occurs. River is 3 miles
wide at I-64.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Wabash River at Vincennes.
* From late Friday night until further notice.
* At 6:45 PM Thursday the stage was 13.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by early Saturday morning and
continue to rise to near 24.9 feet by Saturday morning.
* At 25.0 feet... water is at critical stage for England Pond levee on
Illinois side. Pearl City extensively floods. Installation of
flood gates is required for the city of Vincennes. Flooding occurs
in old Vincennes area. Extensive agricultural flooding continues.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Wabash River at Riverton.
* Until further notice.
* At 7:00 PM Thursday the stage was 16.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 24.7 feet by
Thursday morning then begin falling.
* At 24.0 feet... extensive flooding is in progress. Most levees are
at critical levels. Water level near the top of a few levees.
High water begins to affect residences in eastern Palestine,
Illinois and those along East River Road just southeast of
Palestine. Some evacuations are necessary. Rodeo area in Leaverton
Park begins to flood. Water near or over East River Road south of
Palestine.

the Wabash River at Hutsonville legacy Power Plant site.
* Until further notice.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river is forecast to have a maximum value of 25.2
feet Wednesday early afternoon.
* At 25.0 feet... extensive flooding is in progress in York and
Hutsonville, Illinois. Flood waters surround homes and are in a
local park. Local River Road south of Hutsonville to Palestine
almost floods.

the White River at Hazleton.
* Until further notice.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river is forecast to have a maximum value of 26.4
feet Tuesday early afternoon.
* At 26.0 feet... people in residential Cabins on the riverward side of
the levee generally relocate. Many local roads are completely
impassable. Oil fields are inaccessible. The remaining water
pumps are installed on the west end of Hazleton.

The Flood Warning continues for
the White River at Petersburg.
* Until further notice.
* At 7:30 PM Thursday the stage was 18.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 25.6 feet by
Thursday early afternoon then begin falling.
* At 25.8 feet... near major flooding in progress. During the may
1990, the town of Petersburg lost their main water line. This
problem is believed to have been corrected. Seven floods since may
1990 have reached this level. Levees are monitored at this level.
Numerous roads flooded. Flood waters approach State Road 56 near
Bowman. Extensive flooding in Dodge City.

the White River at Edwardsport.
* Until further notice.
* At 1:00 PM Thursday the stage was 15.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 22.5 feet by
early Monday morning then begin falling.
* At 22.9 feet... a 25 foot section of levee unit 8 failed at this
level on March 6 2011... flooding local roads behind the levee.
Flooding not nearly as bad as June 2008 levee failure. Flooding
was very close to one of the June 2008 failures.

the White River at Newberry.
* Until Saturday March 03.
* At 7:30 PM Thursday the stage was 13.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 13.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 19.4 feet by
Tuesday morning. The river will fall below flood stage late
Saturday morning.
* At 19.0 feet... extensive agricultural flooding is in progress. Some
state and County roads flood. County Road 600 W just north of
river flooded by possibly more than two feet of water for a
considerable distance in Mary Long Cutoff area. County roads 900 W
and 750 S begin to flood in Greene County.

the White River at Elliston.
* Until Sunday March 04.
* At 8:00 am Thursday the stage was 18.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 25.4 feet by
Tuesday morning. The river will fall below flood stage Sunday
morning.
* At 26.0 feet... Shawnee airfield floods as flood waters begin to get
into the hangar. Relocation of livestock may be necessary.

Indiana, south central Indiana, southeast Indiana, southwest
Indiana, and west central Indiana, including the following
areas, in central Indiana, Bartholomew, Decatur, Hancock,
Hendricks, Johnson, Marion, Morgan, rush, and Shelby. In east
central Indiana, Henry. In south central Indiana, Brown,
Jackson, Lawrence, and Monroe. In southeast Indiana, Jennings.
In southwest Indiana, Daviess, Greene, Knox, Martin, and
Sullivan. In west central Indiana, Clay, Owen, Putnam, and
Vigo.

* From 10 PM EST this evening through Sunday morning

* rainfall of 2 to 3 inches or more is expected through Sunday
morning, in areas that have already received as much as 4 inches
of rainfall in the last week. This will likely worsen flooding
on area waterways and lead to flooding of other streams, low
lying areas, and poor drainage areas.
