Areal Flood Advisory, Flash Flood Watch

Statement as of 4:10 PM CDT on July 07, 2015

Expires 8:00 PM EDT on July 08, 2015

The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
Lyon County in western Kentucky...
Crittenden County in western Kentucky...
Graves County in western Kentucky...
Calloway County in western Kentucky...
Marshall County in western Kentucky...
Livingston County in western Kentucky...

* until 715 PM CDT

* at 410 PM CDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause Urban and Small Stream flooding in
the advisory area... especially where rains fall over areas that
have already received heavy rains earlier.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Murray... Mayfield... Benton... Marion... Calvert City... Eddyville...
Rosiclare... Salem... Joy... Lynnville... Sedalia... Burna...
Ledbetter... Kuttawa... Wingo... Hardin... Hazel... Grand Rivers...
Smithland and Water Valley.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

rains over the same areas... additional flash flooding is
expected.

to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.

Special Statement

Statement as of 4:27 PM CDT on July 07, 2015

Expires 8:00 PM EDT on July 07, 2015

... Local wind gusts up to 40 mph possible with stronger storms
through sunset...

From now through sunset... a few locations along and south of a
line stretching from Poplar Bluff Missouri... Mayfield and
Greenville Kentucky may see isolated wind gusts up to 40 mph.

The best chances for seeing the stronger wind gusts will be along
and ahead of small lines of thunderstorms moving through this
area.

These winds may toss around loose objects left outdoors. In areas
that have seen significant amount of rain recently... these winds
may topple weakened or diseased trees. This... in turn... may drop
limbs on power lines... knocking out power to some homes.

The threat of stronger winds should diminish after 7 PM CDT across
the quad state region.

As the larger area of rain moves over this area this evening... the
focus will then shift to heavy rain and flooding.

Stay tuned to commercial television... radio and social media for
any statements or warnings from the National Weather Service in
