... Flood Warning remains in effect for central Powell County until
400 am EDT...

At 248 am EDT... the Powell County dispatch reported that flooding
was still occurring along portions of upper Cane Creek and lower
Cane Creek roads with portions of the roadways closed at this time.

Some locations that may experience flooding include... Bowen... Cat
Creek and Rosslyn.

This includes the following streams and drainages... Hatcher
creek... Cane Creek... lower Cane Creek... right Fork Cane
Creek... Middle Fork right Fork Cane Creek and Spruce Creek.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross

A record rainfall of 1.85 inches was set at Jackson KY yesterday.
This breaks the old record of 0.86 inches set in 2013. This brings
the monthly total to 8.55 inches... which is makes August 2014 the
second wettest August on record... only bested by the 10.04 inches
from last year. Furthermore... Summer 2014 ended up with a total of
17.44 inches... which places this Summer as the third wettest Summer
at Jackson.

Flash flood, reported by 911 call center.

            Two Bridges were reported to have been washed out along
            jerrica Leigh Lane just to the east of KY Highway 213.

09/01/2014 1212 am

2 miles N of Bowen, Powell County.

Flash flood, reported by 911 call center.

            Water was reported to be over upper Cane Creek and lower
            Cane Creek roads in a total of four locations with water
            still rising. As of 1225 am the County was working on
            closing the roads.

Heavy rain m0.68 inch, reported by mesonet.

            Two thirds of an inch of rain fell at the Clay City
            IFLOWS gauge in 30 minutes. 2.48 inches total for the
            past 24 hours.

Stanton, Powell County.

Heavy rain m0.76 inch, reported by mesonet.

            Three quarters of an inch of rain reported in the IFLOWS
            gauge at Stanton in the past 30 minutes. 24 hour total
            2.52 inches.
