Areal Flood Warning

Statement as of 4:09 AM EST on March 05, 2015

Expires 6:00 PM EST on March 05, 2015

... A Flood Warning remains in effect until 500 PM EST Thursday for
Laurel... Wayne... Pulaski... Knox... McCreary... Whitley and central Bell
counties...

At 409 am EST... a mixture of sleet and snow was ongoing... and
expected to change over to all snow this morning... before tapering
off by late this afternoon. However... runoff from heavy rainfall and
snow melt that occurred Tuesday night and Wednesday has resulted in
flooding of a few area creeks and streams within the warning. Expect
flooding to continue in these locations through at least this
afternoon.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Somerset... London... Monticello... Williamsburg... Barbourville...
Whitley City... Corbin... Liberty... Burnside... clate... Girdler... Moore
Hill... Sprule... Bertha station... Suttons Mill... King... Haven... Brush
Creek... Clio and Kidder.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported.
Stream rises will be slow and flash flooding is not expected.
However... all interested parties should take necessary precautions
immediately.

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.
