southwestern Bell County in southeastern Kentucky...

* until 145 am EDT

* at 1041 PM EDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. These thunderstorms are producing rainfall rates of
2 to 4 inches per hour. These rain rates are expected to cause
minor flooding in the advisory area.

* Some locations that may experience flooding include...
Williamsburg... Whitley City... Dorthae... Dixie... Nevisdale...
Frakes... Pine Knot... clate... Dishman Springs... Moore Hill...
Swanpond... Faber... Bertha station... Suttons Mill... King...

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are

Wayne... Whitley... Bell... Breathitt... Clay... Floyd... Harlan...
Jackson... Knott... Knox... Lee... Leslie... Letcher... Magoffin...
Morgan... Owsley... Perry... Pike... and Wolfe.

* It is valid through early Friday morning.

* Repeated rounds of thunderstorms area expected in a very moist
atmosphere. This will bring a threat for heavy rainfall... which
could result in flash flooding along creeks and small streams,
or in poor drainage areas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

At 1030 PM EDT... a line of strong thunderstorms was along a line
extending from near Huxley to Wofford to near Siler... and moving
northeast at 15 mph.

Winds in excess of 40 mph and half inch hail are possible with these
storms.

Locations impacted include...
Williamsburg... Barbourville... Pineville... Whitley City... Dorthae...
Vox... Calvin... clate... Moore Hill... Bertha station... Suttons Mill...
King... Emmanuel... Ponza... Brush Creek... McHargue... Clio... Artemus...
Huxley and Hightop.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 75 in east central Kentucky between mile markers 1 and
35.
U.S. Highway 25 east in Bell County between mile markers 8 and 18.
U.S. Highway 25 east in Knox County between mile markers 1 and 26.
U.S. Highway 25 east in Laurel County between mile markers 0 and 2.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms... which will
cause ponding of water on roadways. Localized flooding is also
possible. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
