The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
northwestern Los Alamos County in north central New Mexico
northeastern Sandoval County in north central New Mexico
southeastern Rio Arriba County in north central New Mexico

* until 1245 am MDT

* at 950 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
very heavy rain from numerous thunderstorms west of Santa Clara
Pueblo... or about 6 miles north of Los Alamos. The storms producing
very heavy rain were were moving slowly northwest repeatedly into
the same area. Surface observations indicated around 1 inch of
rain has fallen in the past hour... with another one half inch to
1 inch possible. This heavy rainfall is falling on soils already
saturated from rains the past 2 days.

This will impact the Las Conchas burn scar including but not
limited to Santa Clara Canyon... Rio del Oso... Indian service
Route 602 and eastern portions of Valles Caldera.

* Flash Flood Warning for...
extreme southeastern Los Alamos County in north central New Mexico
east central Sandoval County in north central New Mexico
west central Santa Fe County in north central New Mexico

* until 1130 PM MDT

* at 830 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
very heavy rain from additional thunderstorms crossing the
southwest half of the Santa Fe Metro area. The storms producing
very heavy rain were moving toward the northwest about 10 to 20
mph. Radar indicated over 4 inches of rain has fallen around the
Santa Fe Airport from the current storms and storms earlier in the
day.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Do not drive into areas where water covers the roadway. Many flash
flood deaths occur in automobiles.

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued an

* Arroyo and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
Los Alamos County in north central New Mexico
southeastern Rio Arriba County in north central New Mexico
east central Sandoval County in north central New Mexico
northwestern Santa Fe County in north central New Mexico

* until 100 am MDT

* at 905 PM MDT National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
numerous slow-moving thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall over
a large area of the eastern side of the Jemez Mountains. Surface
observations and radar indicated rainfall rates between three
quarters of an inch and 1 inch over portions of the Las Conchas
burn scar... particularly Santa Clara Canyon. Additional storms
moving northwest onto the burn scar will enhance the potential
for flooding through the early morning hours.

This will impact the Las Conchas burn scar including but not
limited to Los Alamos... Santa Clara Canyon... Rio del Oso... Camp may
Road... quemazan trail... Highway 4 from State Road 501 Junction to
Las Conchas campground... Indian service Route 602... Bandelier
National Monument... Frijoles Canyon... Cochiti Canyon... Peralta
Canyon... Dome Wilderness and eastern portion of Valles Caldera.

* Strong flows and high water levels are expected in arroyos... small
streams and over low water crossings. Rapid runoff can also be
expected immediately over and downstream from wildfire burn scars.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Runoff from rainfall will cause elevated water levels within
vulnerable drainages in and downstream of the Las Conchas fire burn
area.

Both localized and distant heavy rainfall will create dangerous flows
in arroyos and over low water crossings. Do not attempt to drive
through these waters. Water in arroyos may travel many miles and take
hours to reach your location from upstream rain areas.

northwestern San Miguel County in northeast New Mexico

* until 1030 PM MDT

* at 856 PM MDT National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
heavy rain from numerous thunderstorms crossing the southern
Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

* Strong flows and high water levels are expected in arroyos... small
streams and over low water crossings. Rapid runoff can also be
expected immediately over and downstream from wildfire burn
scars... including the Tres Lagunas burn scar and the Jaroso
burn scar.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to tell how much
water is on the Road... do not drive through fast moving water of
unknown depth.

Both localized and distant heavy rainfall will create dangerous flows
in arroyos and over low water crossings. Do not attempt to drive
through these waters. Water in arroyos may travel many miles and take
hours to reach your location from upstream rain areas.

heavy rain from additional thunderstorms over the Santa Fe Metro
area.

* Heavy water ponding or curb full water levels are expected in city
streets... Road intersections and some residential areas.
Drainage channels will be dangerous with fast flows and high
water. The potential exists for flash flooding to develop...
especially where heavy rain fell earlier in the day.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Both localized and distant heavy rainfall will create dangerous flows
in arroyos and over low water crossings. Do not attempt to drive
through these waters. Water in arroyos may travel many miles and take
