northeastern De Baca County in east central New Mexico...
eastern Guadalupe County in east central New Mexico...
northwestern Curry County in east central New Mexico...
southwestern Quay County in east central New Mexico...
northwestern Roosevelt County in east central New Mexico...

* until 245 am MDT

* at 1241 am MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
very heavy rain associated with slow moving thunderstorms across
the east Central Plains of New Mexico between Tucumcari and Fort
Sumner. Rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches will be common with
these storms.

* Locations impacted include...
Tucumcari... Quay... Logan... house... Tolar... Taiban... Ragland...
Wheatland... McAlister and Forrest.

This includes Interstate 40 between mile markers 327 and 354.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to tell how much
water is on the Road... do not drive through
fast moving water of unknown depth.

* very moist east and southeast low level flow behind a backdoor
front will interact with a rich stream of monsoon moisture aloft
and a weak upper level wave to produce heavy rainfall which could
lead to flash flooding.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to
flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
Monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash
flood warnings be issued.
