Expires 6:00 PM EST on December 16, 2017

... Wintry weather possible over New Mexico Sunday and Sunday
night...

A storm system will shift rapidly southward across the western
United States today. An area of low pressure will deepen over
Arizona and Mexico border by Sunday morning then shift eastward
toward southern New Mexico through Sunday night. Light rain and
high terrain snow is expected to develop over southwestern New
Mexico Sunday morning, then spread eastward south of the
Interstate 40 corridor through Sunday night. At this time, the
greatest snowfall amounts are most likely to impact the high
terrain of Catron and Lincoln counties, where 2 to 5 inches are
possible through sunrise Monday. Snow levels with this system will
largely be around 6500 to 7000 feet, though may drop near 5500
feet Sunday night.

There is still a large degree of uncertainty with this potential
winter storm system, so folks are encouraged to remain alert to
the latest weather forecasts across New Mexico. The latest travel
conditions are available at nmroads.Com or by dialing 5-1-1. Stay
tuned at NOAA Weather Radio, NWS twitter and facebook pages, or
