The National Weather Service in Rapid City has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
northeastern Haakon County in west central South Dakota...

* until 1030 PM MDT

* at 733 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
slow moving thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall across the
warned area. Radar estimates 2 to 4 inches of rain will fall in a
short duration.

* Runoff from this excessive rainfall will cause flash flooding to
occur. Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Kirley.

This includes the following streams and drainages... Rudy
creek... Plum Creek... hermaphrodite creek... west Plum
Creek... Mitchell Creek... Deep Run creek... Sansarc creek... Lone Tree
Creek... West Fork hermaphrodite creek and bad river.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... country roads... as well as farmland along the
banks of creeks and streams.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely.

* small stream Flood Advisory for...
southern Haakon County in west central South Dakota...

* until 200 am MDT

* at 901 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
thunderstorms with heavy rainfall across the advisory area. Doppler
radar estimated 1 to 2 inches of rain will fall in less than one
hour.

* Runoff from this excessive rainfall will cause minor flooding to
occur... especially along small streams and near low water
crossings. Some locations that will experience minor flooding
include... Philip... Midland and Ottumwa.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding. If flooding is observed act quickly. Do not
drive through areas where water covers the roadway.
