Areal Flood Advisory, Flash Flood Watch

Statement as of 5:56 PM EDT on July 05, 2015

Expires 8:00 PM EDT on July 05, 2015

The National Weather Service in Morristown has extended the

* Flood Advisory for...
central Greene County in east Tennessee...

* until 1045 PM EDT

* at 555 PM EDT... Doppler radar indicated that heavy rain has fallen
due to thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding in the
advisory area. One to two inches of rain have already
fallen... with some additional light rainfall possible over the
next couple of hours.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Greeneville... Tusculum... Mosheim and Camp Creek.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to travel across
flooded roads. Find alternate routes. It takes only a few inches of
swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles away.
