* Forecast... the river is cresting near 55.0 feet... then a secondary crest
is expected from routed flow.
* At 55.0 feet... major lowland flooding begins.

* until Sunday morning... or until the warning is canceled.
* At 1200 PM Friday... the stage was 19.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and forecast.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet. Moderate flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river is crest now near 19.5 feet and will begin falling over
the weekend.
* At 19.0 feet... major lowland flooding begins with water up to the low steel of
the FM 60 bridge. The Channel is 3/4 miles wide in the vicinity of the gage.

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 10 PM CDT this
evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* a portion of southeast Texas... including the following
Austin... Chambers... Colorado... Fort ... Bend... Harris...
Liberty... Montgomery... Polk... San Jacinto... Waller...
Washington and Wharton.

* Until 10 PM CDT this evening

* areas of moderate to heavy rain have trained across much of the
area since Thursday. Rainfall totals so far have averaged from
10 to 20 inches across locations along a line from Brenham to
Conroe. Hardest hit counties have been Washington...
Brazos... Burleson... Grimes and Montgomery.

* Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are expected with
isolated amounts from 4 to 6 inches. Due to already saturated
grounds... any heavy rainfall will run off quickly and will
produce more flood and flash flood problems.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor the latest forecasts and be prepared to take
action should flash flood warnings be issued.

A record rainfall of 5.76 inches was set at College Station
yesterday. This breaks the old record of 1.02 inches set
in 1976.

Further south... Brenham recorded 16.62 inches of rain
yesterday which was also a daily rainfall record.
