the East Fork San Jacinto near New Caney...
* until further notice.
* At 0900 PM Friday... the stage was 19.0 feet.
* Major flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 19.0 feet. Major flood is 21 feet.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage tonight and continue to rise to near 24.4
feet by Tuesday morning.
* At 25.0 feet... water is over Casey Road on left downstream side and several
hunting camps along the left bank approximately 2 miles downstream from the
gage begin to take on water. There is widespread flooding in the right flood
plain with FM 1485 inundated and closed near the gage.

* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 37.7 feet Saturday
afternoon then begin falling.
* At 37.0 feet... moderate lowland flooding begins in the vicinity of the gage
with water to the floor of the gage house and the Road near the gage is
flooded. Riverview drive in the River Ridge subdivision is inundated and
impassable.

Storm survey found fairly large area of significant damage south of
Navasota near FM 2988 with trunks of large trees snapped and several
structures severely damaged. Two homes had their roofs removed. A
commercial metal building system was severely damaged. Initially
considered possibility of large tornado but careful inspection of
damage and radar data... think there were actually two tornadoes.
Each of the Navasota tornadoes was borderline EF1 EF2 damage.

Ef scale: the Enhanced Fujita scale classifies tornadoes
into the following categories.

EF0... weak... ... 65 to 85 mph
EF1... weak... ... 86 to 110 mph
EF2... strong... .111 to 135 mph
EF3... strong... .136 to 165 mph
EF4... violent... 166 to 200 mph
EF5... violent... >200 mph
