northeastern Cumberland County in central Virginia...
Hanover County in central Virginia...

* until 1145 PM EDT

* at 944 PM EDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause Urban and Small Stream flooding in
the advisory area. One to three inches of rain have already fallen
in some locations with an additional inch or two possible through
1145 PM.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Goochland... Ashland... Randolph Macon College... Hadensville...
Mechanicsville... Tuckahoe... Columbia... Montpelier... Glen Allen...
Laurel... Trenholm... Fife... Lakeside... Oilville... Sabot... wyndham...

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... country roads... farmland... and other low lying
spots.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Chesterfield... northwestern King William... southwestern Caroline...
northeastern Cumberland and Hanover counties and the city of
Richmond...

At 904 PM EDT... radar indicated strong thunderstorms were located
along a line extending from near Ladysmith to near Oilville to near
Lakeside Village. Movement was southeast at 25 mph.

Wind gusts in excess of 30 mph and rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches
are possible with these storms.

Other locations impacted by these storms include Epworth... Goodwins
store... Maidens... Burruss Corner... Irwin... Roslyn
Hills... Atlee... Richmond Heights... earls and Ruther Glen.

If you see lightning or hear thunder... you are at risk. Take shelter
indoors immediately. If you cannot find shelter in a building a
vehicle provides safety from lightning.

Motorists should use extra caution in the vicinity of these storms.
Be prepared for rapid changes in weather and Road conditions. Heavy
rain could cause ponding of water on roads... and possible minor
flooding of ditches and poor drainage areas.

... Recent temperature data from Norfolk VA...

High temperatures from Norfolk International Airport have been
determined to be unrepresentative from July 22nd through July 26th.
Therefore... data from the nearby cooperative site will be
substituted for daily high temperatures for these dates. Please
note that all data remains preliminary (not official) until final
verification by ncdc/ncei following the end of the month.

Technicians will be checking the equipment on Friday and making any
needed repairs.
