Areal Flood Warning

... A Flood Warning for small streams for rain and snowmelt remains in
effect until 1115 am PDT Thursday for central Stevens County...

At 200 PM PDT, local law enforcement officials continue to report
flooding from Mill Creek over Highway 395 north of Colville. This
has resulted in the closure of Highway 395 between milepost 231 and
233. The flooding in this area as well as The Lowlands near the
Colville river are expected to continue into early next week with
more rain expected next Wednesday night into Thursday.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Spokane river at Spokane.
* Until Monday afternoon.
* At 12:45 PM Wednesday the stage was 27.69 feet.
* Flood stage is 27.00 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river is expected to slowly fall over the next
several days. By Monday afternoon, the Spokane river is expected
to fall below the flood stage of 27.0 feet.

* at 28.0 feet... flooding in sections of Peaceful Valley is likely.
Minor flooding along upriver drive and in the Riverpoint Industrial
area is also possible.
* At 27.5 feet... water will be over one Lane of upriver drive between
stone and regal streets and encroach onto The Shoulder of the Road
in other sections of upriver drive between stone and Granite
streets.
* At 27.0 feet... significant stretches of the Centennial Trail
between mission Avenue and Greene street will be inundated. Minor
flooding will occur along the river's edge in Peaceful Valley park
and in the yards of homes at the east end of Water Street. The
river may back up through storm drains onto Main Street near its
intersection with Elm Street in Peaceful Valley. Minor flooding of
low lying areas along the Spokane River Valley will occur.
* At 25.4 feet... sections of the Centennial Trail along upriver
drive, between mission Avenue and Greene street, will be covered in
water. Water will be at the trail's edge in several locations along
this same stretch.





Areal Flood Watch

... Flood Watch remains in effect through Friday morning...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of Idaho and Washington, including the following
counties, in Idaho, Benewah, Bonner, boundary, Kootenai,
Latah, Lewis, Nez Perce, and Shoshone. In Washington, Asotin,
Pend Oreille, Spokane, and Stevens.

* Through Friday morning

* additional rainfall amounts of fifteen hundredths to half an
inch of rain will be common over the Idaho Panhandle and the
eastern third of Washington through Thursday.

* Water tables are running high from the last few weeks of wet
weather and melting snow. Localized field flooding is already
occurring and is likely to worsen by Thursday morning. Small
streams and creeks will see increased flows. Saturated grounds
will also lead to potential mudslides in steep terrain.

* Paradise creek at Moscow will continue to be monitored as well
as any potential impacts to Whitman County. We are not expecting
any flooding issues at this time.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
